Carl Ralston won the award for student of the month on February 20th at bowie high school.
He won the award due to a amazing catch at his fishing competition bringing in the largest fish caught at a school competition.
"my team brought in the first place prize with the largest fish caught," said Carl. "I have caught bigger but I am still proud with my catch."
carl does inside and outside of school fishing, he mostly does bass fishing on his free time, but he is also included in outside of school basketball, he also likes hanging out with his friends.
"the weekends is the time I do everything with my friend, sometimes I have a fishing competition but usaully find myself enjoying the calm quiet waters."
carl has his mother Marie and father Jason, he also has a 17 year old sister. his mom works for the state and his dad works with HR and money works, growing up in the household has made him prone to a routine.
"growing up I've had both a long mother and father figure, which has helped a lot, they help me a lot with school even when they don't need to," "I don't think I would be the same person if it wasn't for them."
born in California, then moving here because of his dads job, carls whole family still live back in California, carl plans on moving back one day, he doesn't know where he wants to go to collage but wants it to be close to his family who he is far from right now.
"my family has always been a big part of my life, its very hard to not be a 5 minute drive from them anymore, I do miss them a lot. I may move back for collage but don't know yet."
right now he is taking a couple pre ap classes as a 9th grader.
